Opportunity for innovative Swiss young entrepreneurs: STARTUPS.CH, AXA Winterthur, and now also Axpo honor the best business ideas in Switzerland. The awards are presented as part of the Swiss Startups Awards 2013. In addition to the STARTUPS.CH AWARD, awarded by the company of the same name for online company foundations, AXA Insurance presents a special Innovation Award and energy company Axpo presents the Energy Award for the first time. Each of the three prizes is endowed with CHF 50,000.

As part of the STARTUPS.CH AWARDS, the best Swiss business idea is awarded CHF 50,000. This prize is co-sponsored by STARTUPS.CH and its partners PostFinance, AXA Winterthur, Swisscom, and Sage.

AXA Winterthur is awarding the AXA Innovation Award for the third time, also worth CHF 50,000. For the first time, Axpo, the leading Swiss energy company, presents an award for startups in the energy sector. The Axpo Energy Award of another CHF 50,000 is aimed at innovative business ideas in the fields of energy production, energy technology, energy transmission, energy storage, and electrical engineering.

Applicants for the STARTUPS.CH AWARD, AXA Innovation Award, and Axpo Energy Award must meet two conditions with their business plans: Their business idea can be implemented with a startup capital of no more than CHF 1,000,000 according to the submitted business plan, and they have not yet founded their company.

First expert and specialist jury, then public voting

Until June 30, 2013, young entrepreneurs throughout Switzerland have the opportunity to submit their business plan in German, French, Italian, or English at www.swiss-startups-awards.ch. Thereafter, the proposals submitted will first be examined by professional juries and then by an expert jury comprised of prominent entrepreneurs like Andy Rihs (Phonak, BMC). The top three projects in the expert jury can then be rated by the public in an online voting at www.swiss-startups-awards.ch. The online voting starts on October 21 and lasts for 7 days. The final result counts two-thirds jury voting and one-third public voting. For business ideas that just missed out, further prizes are awarded in the form of STARTUPS.CH vouchers for company formation.
