It's that time again, and the tax return form is in the mailbox. For many, it's a routine matter, but for some, it presents a significant challenge. In this blog post, we would like to provide you with a simple guide on how to submit your tax return in Switzerland.

The submission deadline is mostly on March 31 of the following year, which means the tax return for 2022 must be submitted by March 31, 2023. You can find out when the submission deadline is in your canton on our website.

Before you can start submitting your tax return, you need to ensure that you have all the necessary documents. Here’s an overview of the most important documents:

·        Employer's salary statement

·        Interest and capital statements from the bank

·        Health insurance premium statement

·        Contributions to pension schemes such as Pillar 3a

·        Debt statements

Once you have all the necessary documents, you can begin the actual submission of your tax return. There are several ways to do this:

1.    Trustee: The easiest and most convenient way is through a trustee office. Typically, you can simply submit the documents, and the tax return will then be prepared by an expert and submitted directly to the tax authority.
Here you can find our services.

2.    Online: If you prefer to fill out the tax return yourself easily and quickly, you can submit it online in most cantons. The required program is provided free of charge by the cantonal tax office.

3.    Paper form: Of course, you can also fill out and submit your tax return in paper form. However, since this method is used less and less frequently, you may need to call your municipality to obtain all the necessary forms.

Once you have successfully submitted your tax return, you will typically receive your definitive tax assessment within a few weeks.
