ESTV-SuisseTax – The electronic VAT settlement
The ESTV facilitates VAT accounting for young entrepreneurs with the SuisseTax portal, which enables efficient electronic filing.

For many young entrepreneurs, VAT represents a significant administrative burden. The electronic VAT filing portal SuisseTax by the FTA provides relief.
Are you still submitting your VAT returns on paper?
The Federal Tax Administration (FTA) offers a portal named SuisseTax for the electronic submission of VAT returns. Additionally, with SuisseTax, you can submit corrective statements, request extensions, and keep an overview of all the declarations submitted through the portal.
First steps towards electronic declaration
Under Register User you can open a new user account. For data protection reasons, authorization by a person with signing authority is required. This also applies to sole proprietorships. Individuals who assume multiple mandates (e.g., trustees) can request a power of attorney in the "Activation" section. The FTA then sends the respective form to the company's registered office. Finally, the signed power of attorney must be returned to the FTA. Once the activation has taken place, the FTA will send you a notification by email.
Types of permissions at ESTV-SuisseTax
At SuisseTax, there are three types of permissions: filler, submitter, and superuser. Fillers can fill out the VAT returns but cannot submit them themselves. Submitters can fill out and also submit the returns electronically. The submission can be done both for VAT returns filled out by themselves and those created by others (e.g., fillers). Superusers, in addition to the rights of a submitter, also have the function of user management. Each company must have one superuser.
